International Robotics Festival «RoboFinist»

Educational materials on the subject of Robotics

International Robotics Festival «RoboFinist»

Main Idea: This is one of the largest and most «open» robotics festivals. While the «RTC Cup» is about the rigorous solution of applied tasks, «RoboFinist» is about mass participation, creativity, and knowledge exchange.

What makes it special?

  • Accessibility and Mass Scale: The festival is famous for a huge number of categories (often more than 30), designed for any age and skill level — from 6-8 year old children assembling their first LEGO robots to students with advanced projects.
  • Focus on Education: The main goal of «RoboFinist» is not just to determine a winner, but to create an educational environment. The organizers actively promote «open» robotics, where participants share their developments, schematics, and code.
  • Creativity: In addition to classic competitions (racing, sumo), creative categories play a huge role, where teams present their own unique inventions, often at the intersection of robotics and art.

What are the robot’s tasks? The tasks are as diverse as possible and depend on the category:

  • Classics: High-speed line following, pushing the opponent out of the ring (robot sumo), solving mazes.
  • Applied (Simplified): Simulation of «smart» city traffic, object sorting.
  • Creative Projects: Robot musicians, robot artists, «smart» assistants for home or study.

Goal: To involve as many children and youth as possible in engineering creativity, create a strong community of enthusiasts, and provide them with a platform to demonstrate their ideas.
